This piece, inspired by Tiffany stained glass, was done by coating board with plaster and then inscribing the outline lines into the wet plaster. After it was allowed to dry, the lines were painted in black and the rest of the image filled in. It was finished with a coat of very high gloss lacquer to give the appearance of stained glass even though it is not transparent. I've done a number of works in this style.

I came to painting late in life, believing I could never draw anything beyond a stick figure -- and it turns out that essentially I was right! I've found though that by using color and a basic idea of form, I could convey the beauty and mystery of the image that emerges as I apply paint to a surface.
