This is a digital image made with a simple drawing program. The lines were created first with no particular subject in mind. Then the color combination was selected with a lot of strong blacks and whites. The image just popped out at me. The curving line starting in the upper left edge and finishing in the middle of the bottom edge make the outline of a face and neck. The other lines and colors suggest the nose and eyes of a masked figure, his left hand raised in salute. I like it!

I came to painting late in life, believing I could never draw anything beyond a stick figure -- and it turns out that essentially I was right! I've found though that by using color and a basic idea of form, I could convey the beauty and mystery of the image that emerges as I apply paint to a surface.
